The Locations
Some say, “The Scenery in Guilin is the finest under Heaven … but Yangshuo’s scenery is better still.” The misty mountains surrounding the Yulong River and Zhangjiajie are icons of China’s landscape, inspiring poets and painters for millennia and more recently James Cameron’s movie Avatar. Fantastic landscape is both the focus of this adventure and the backdrop for all the other magical moments we’ll encounter along the way – planes, trains, boats, and cable cars, firecrackers, lantern festivals, cormorant fishermen, farming, agriculture, handcrafts, architecture, and cuisine. On our adventure, you’ll experience many of the staggering contrasts that define China from the metropolitan city of Shanghai to small rural villages.
Our guides live locally and you’ll have an opportunity to get off the tourist beaten tracks, interact with locals, and discover the more authentic sides of Chinese life.
